Email bombing via repeated password-reset requests
Published Apr 13, 2026 · Updated Apr 13, 2026
Email bombing in Totara LMS 19.1.5 and earlier allows remote attackers to flood a target through repeated password-reset requests. The reported forgot-password API accepts repeated requests for the same target address without per-address throttling and sends reset messages. Totara disputes the claim because the default pwresettime is 30 minutes and PWRESET_STATUS_ALREADYSENT blocks further messages for that address.
