Code execution via unsafe multiprocessing queue deserialization
Published May 12, 2026 · Updated May 12, 2026
Insecure deserialization in imgaug 0.4.0 and earlier allows attackers to execute arbitrary code through a crafted multiprocessing queue payload. BackgroundAugmenter's _augment_images_worker() passes queue data to Python's pickle deserializer without validation, so pickle reconstruction invokes attacker-selected code. Exploitation requires control of data entering that internal queue; the code runs with the worker process privileges, and reachability can be local or remote depending on the embedding application.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
