Role escalation via unrestricted internal relationship tables
Published Mar 10, 2026 · Updated Mar 10, 2026
Improper access control in Parse Server before 8.6.20 and 9.0.0 through 9.5.2-alpha.6 allows remote attackers to gain protected roles. The REST and GraphQL request paths pass client operations on internal _Join relationship tables through role enforcement that does not require a master or maintenance key. Possession of the application key is sufficient for remote attackers to join a Parse Role or bypass pointerFields CLP and obtain its read, write, and delete permissions.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
