Protected-field disclosure via nonrecursive query validation
Published Mar 10, 2026 · Updated Mar 10, 2026
Improper access control in Parse Server before 8.6.19 and 9.0.0 through 9.5.2-alpha.5 allows remote authenticated users to read protected fields. The protected-field query validator examines only top-level keys, so constraints nested inside logical operators escape validation. Any authenticated account can exploit the bypass against default protected fields, exposing stored values without permission; all deployments define such fields by default.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
