SQL injection via unvalidated JSON cast type
Published Mar 10, 2026 · Updated Mar 10, 2026
SQL injection in Sequelize before 6.37.8 allows remote attackers to read data from any database table via crafted JSON where-clause keys. The _traverseJSON() function treats text after :: in a JSON path key as a cast type and inserts it without validation into CAST(... AS ) SQL. Exposure requires an application to pass attacker-controlled objects as JSON or JSONB where-clause values; affected dialects are SQLite, PostgreSQL, MySQL, and MariaDB.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
