Cross-site scripting via unescaped image attributes
Published Mar 7, 2026 · Updated Mar 7, 2026
Cross-site scripting in Steph Ango Defuddle before 0.9.0 allows remote attackers to execute script through crafted HTML input. The _findContentBySchemaText method reads a sibling image's raw alt value and interpolates it into an HTML attribute, so a quote creates an onload handler. Exploitation requires schema.org data that reaches this fallback and a downstream application that renders the generated HTML, exposing that application's users to attacker-controlled script.
