Code execution via oversized JPEG Huffman table
Published Mar 13, 2026 · Updated Mar 13, 2026
Heap buffer overflow in GStreamer gst-plugins-bad before 1.28.1 allows remote attackers to execute code through a crafted JPEG file. The JPEG parser copies attacker-controlled Huffman-table data into a fixed-length heap storage buffer without first checking that the table length fits. Exploitation requires an application to process untrusted JPEG content; successful heap manipulation executes code in that application's process, while a failed attempt can crash it.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
