Protected package upload via missing authorization check
Published May 14, 2026 · Updated May 14, 2026
Authorization bypass in GitLab CE/EE allows remote authenticated users with Developer access to upload protected PyPI packages. The PyPI package-upload authorization path fails to enforce a matching package protection rule before accepting the package. A project-level Developer role and a configured matching rule are required, and the bounded impact is unauthorized package publication.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
Is a vulnerable build present?
Compare these published version ranges with your installed build and any vendor patches.
- Affected versionversion=17.6 <18.9.7
- Affected versionversion=18.10 <18.10.6
