Restricted file write via unsanitized folder path
Published Jul 21, 2026 · Updated Jul 21, 2026
Path traversal in the create_doc MCP tool in knowns-dev knowns 0.11.4 allows attackers to write Markdown files outside .knowns/docs/. The handler strips only edge slashes from the folder value, joins the unchecked result, recursively creates directories, and writes controlled content without rejecting ../ segments. Exploitation requires access to invoke the stdio MCP tool directly or influence an integrated agent; writes are limited to new .md files and directories.
