Financial data corruption via unchecked negative penalty rates
Published Apr 1, 2026 · Updated Apr 1, 2026
Business logic validation failure in SourceCodester Loan Management System 1.0 allows remote authenticated users to create plans with negative penalty rates. The ajax.php?action=save_plan handler accepts a manipulated penalty_rate POST value without repeating the browser's nonnegative-value check. Administrator access is required, and exploitation stores a negative rate that causes overdue-payment calculations to reduce rather than increase the amount due.
