Cross-service authentication via omitted JWT audience check
Published Mar 6, 2026 · Updated Mar 6, 2026
Improper authentication in OliveTin before 3000.11.1 allows remote authenticated users to reuse valid JWTs issued for another service. The local-key and HMAC branches of parseJwtToken in service/internal/auth/otjwt/jwt.go call jwt.Parse without jwt.WithAudience, so authJwtAud is ignored. Exploitation requires a JWT signed by the configured key or secret; the token grants OliveTin authentication but does not bypass ACL authorization.
