Request-handler crash via unchecked tai slice index
Published Aug 27, 2026 · Updated Aug 27, 2026
Denial of service in the NRF Discovery service in free5GC 4.0.1 allows remote attackers to crash a request handler via a malformed tai value. The complexQueryFilterSubprocess function splits the attacker-controlled tai string on commas and reads element 1 without checking the resulting slice length. A single-value tai string triggers an index-out-of-range panic; the observed recovery path returns HTTP 500, while service termination depends on runtime panic recovery.
