NRF service crash via unchecked string slicing
Published Aug 27, 2026 · Updated Aug 27, 2026
Denial of service in free5GC 4.0.1 allows remote attackers to crash NRF Discovery via an empty snssais query parameter. The buildFilter function in internal/sbi/processor/nf_discovery.go slices the parameter without checking its length, causing a slice-bounds panic. Network access to the NRF discovery API is required, and the demonstrated result is an HTTP 500 response and NRF service interruption.
