AMF process crash via undersized NAS PDU

Out-of-bounds access in the free5GC 4.0.1 AMF NGAP handler allows remote attackers to crash the AMF process via a malformed NAS PDU. The handler passes an undersized NAS PDU to nas.GetSecurityHeaderType without validating its length, and the decoder reads index 1 from a one-byte buffer. Reachability requires an SCTP NGAP connection capable of sending an InitialUEMessage; triggering the panic terminates AMF and interrupts 5G core service.
