CVE-2026-29976

Process crash via unchecked radiotap index

Published Mar 26, 2026 · Updated Mar 26, 2026

Out-of-bounds access in ZerBea hcxpcapngtool 7.0.1-43-g2ee308e allows local users to crash the process with a crafted capture file. getradiotapfield uses an unvalidated internal index to read two bytes past the global usedfrequency array while parsing radiotap data. The attacker must cause the local command-line tool to process the malformed file; demonstrated impact is a process crash, not sensitive-information disclosure.
