Authenticated command execution via unsanitized chart name
Published Apr 13, 2026 · Updated Apr 13, 2026
Command injection in KubePlus 4.14 allows remote authenticated users to execute arbitrary commands through the /registercrd endpoint. The download_and_untar_chart function concatenates chartName into shell command strings passed to subprocess.Popen with shell execution enabled and no validation. Access to the HTTP interface and low privileges are required; injected commands run as root in the container and can expose a cluster-admin token.
