Session-data exposure via overbroad native backups
Published Feb 23, 2026 · Updated Feb 23, 2026
Backup exposure in AliasVault App 0.25.0 through 0.25.3 allows local users to obtain session data from native device backups. Backup rules leave shared_prefs/aliasvault.xml eligible for cloud backup and device transfer despite storing API tokens and key-derivation metadata in plaintext. The attacker must access a backup; exposed tokens cannot decrypt the vault without the master password.
