CVE-2026-29516Network attack vector

Password-hash disclosure via world-readable shadow file

Published Mar 16, 2026 · Updated Mar 16, 2026

Information disclosure in BUFFALO TeraStation TS5400R 4.02-0.06 and earlier lets remote authenticated users read /etc/shadow. The webserver executes an uploaded PHP file that reads /etc/shadow because the firmware makes that critical file world-readable. Administrative web access is required, and disclosure exposes password hashes for every configured account, including root, without altering data or interrupting service.
