CVE-2026-2938Public exploitNetwork attack vector

Unauthenticated account takeover via SMTP configuration overwrite

Published Feb 22, 2026 · Updated Feb 22, 2026

Improper access control in SourceCodester Student Result Management System 1.0 allows remote attackers to hijack SMTP configuration. The update_smtp.php endpoint omits session and administrator checks, then writes attacker-supplied POST fields directly to the global tbl_smtp record. Unauthenticated network access is sufficient; redirecting password-reset mail to an attacker-controlled server exposes reset tokens and enables administrator account takeover.
