Account takeover via poisoned password-reset links
Published May 4, 2026 · Updated May 4, 2026
Host header injection in phpBB 3.0.0 through 3.3.15 allows remote attackers to poison password-reset links sent by email. With force_server_vars disabled, session hostname resolution trusts the HTTP Host header when constructing the reset URL. Exploitation requires a manipulable Host header and a recipient who follows the poisoned email link; capture of the reset token enables account takeover.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
