CVE-2026-29145Network attack vector

Authentication bypass via mishandled OCSP retry responses

Published Apr 9, 2026 · Updated Apr 9, 2026

Improper authentication in Apache Tomcat and Tomcat Native allows remote attackers with revoked client certificates to bypass CLIENT_CERT checks. The OCSP response handler accepts a TRY_AGAIN response without setting a verification error even when soft fail is disabled. Exposure requires CLIENT_CERT authentication with OCSP enabled and an attacker-held certificate that should be rejected, allowing access protected by certificate authentication.
