DNS tampering via world-writable resolver configuration

Incorrect permissions on /etc/resolv.conf in IDC SFX2100 Satellite Receiver allow local users to tamper with DNS resolution. The appliance firmware deploys the resolver configuration as a world-writable file, so any local account can replace trusted name-server entries. Low-privileged local access is required; altered entries can redirect DNS-dependent communications, expose traffic to interception, or interrupt name resolution.
