CVE-2026-29123Public exploit

Root privilege escalation via replaceable SUID binary

Published Mar 5, 2026 · Updated Mar 5, 2026

Local privilege escalation in IDC SFX2100 on Linux allows local users to gain root privileges through a SUID XDTerminal binary. The root-owned /home/xd/terminal/XDTerminal file is setuid while residing in an xd-controlled directory, enabling replacement, symlink, PATH, or shared-object hijacking when privileged code invokes it. Low-privileged local access and system-dependent execution of the binary are required; successful exploitation executes attacker-controlled code as root.
