Invited-user privilege escalation via role mass assignment
Published Mar 18, 2026 · Updated Mar 18, 2026
Privilege escalation in Kanboard before 1.2.51 allows remote authenticated users with an invite link to create an administrator account. UserInviteController::register() passes every POST field to UserModel::create(), and role=app-admin passes validation and is persisted. Possession of a valid invite link is required; the resulting account receives full administrative access, including plugin installation.
