Server code execution via permissive theme path resolution
Published Mar 5, 2026 · Updated Mar 5, 2026
Code injection in Ghost 0.7.2 through 6.19.0 allows remote authenticated users to execute arbitrary code via a malicious theme. The Handlebars get helper passes theme-controlled path expressions to jsonpath, whose permissive evaluator accepts syntax beyond Ghost's required property paths. Exploitation requires administrator-level theme installation and user interaction; successful payloads run in the Ghost server process.
