Unauthenticated stored XSS via predictable rewrite placeholders
Published Apr 29, 2026 · Updated Apr 29, 2026
Stored XSS in WP Meteor Website Speed Optimization Addon 3.4.16 and earlier allows remote attackers to inject scripts through comments. frontend_rewrite treats attacker-controlled WPMETEOR[N]WPMETEOR text as an internal placeholder and substitutes unescaped replacement content. The attack requires a user to load an injected page, where the stored script executes in that user's browser with the site's origin.
