Privilege escalation via unchecked user database initialization
Published Jul 30, 2026 · Updated Jul 30, 2026
Authentication bypass in Apache JSPWiki 2.12.3 and earlier allows remote attackers to impersonate users and escalate privileges. UserManager starts without sanity-checking the user database; Apache has not disclosed the omitted validation or how a request selects an identity. Network access, no prior privileges, and no user interaction are required; impersonation confers the impersonated user's privileges.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.

Attacks
What attackers are doing with it
Daily unique IPs observed by Shadowserver honeypots for known exploited vulnerabilities (KEVs). Missing observations do not establish an absence of attacks.
