CVE-2026-28793Public exploit

Arbitrary file access via unchecked media paths

Published Mar 12, 2026 · Updated Mar 12, 2026

Path traversal in the @tinacms/cli development server before 2.1.8 allows local users to read, write, or delete arbitrary files. The /media/list/, /media/upload/, and /media/* handlers decode user-controlled path segments and join them to the media root without verifying that the resolved path remains inside it. Exploitation requires access to the dev server, which binds to localhost by default; forwarding or externally binding port 4001 exposes the same unauthenticated file operations.
