Unauthenticated root code execution via writable XDTerminal
Published Mar 4, 2026 · Updated Mar 4, 2026
Hard-coded credentials in the IDC SFX2100 receiver allow remote attackers to access the xd account over FTP and execute code as root. The FTP service accepts the fixed xd:xd credentials, while the account owns /home/xd/terminal and can replace XDTerminal or redirect its symlinks. No prior account is required; root execution occurs when a root-level process invokes xdstartstop through the attacker-controlled path.
