Command hijacking via unchecked slash-command trigger updates
Published May 18, 2026 · Updated May 18, 2026
Incorrect authorization in Mattermost 10.11.0 through 10.11.13, 11.4.0 through 11.4.3, and 11.5.0 through 11.5.1 allows command hijacking. UpdateCommand saved an edited trigger without checking it case-insensitively against built-in commands or other commands registered to the team. Remote authenticated users with Manage Own Slash Commands permission can reuse a trusted trigger, causing later invocations to be routed to the malicious command URL.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
Is a vulnerable build present?
Compare these published version ranges with your installed build and any vendor patches.
- Affected versionversion=10.11.0 <=10.11.13
- Affected versionversion=11.4.0 <=11.4.3

What attackers are doing with it
Daily unique IPs observed by Shadowserver honeypots for known exploited vulnerabilities (KEVs). Missing observations do not establish an absence of attacks.
