Dump output path manipulation via release asset names
Published Jul 3, 2026 · Updated Jul 3, 2026
Path traversal in Gitea before 1.25.5 allows remote attackers to manipulate repository dump output paths through crafted release data. The CreateReleases routine in services/migrations/dump.go passes untrusted release tag and asset names to filepath.Join beneath its release_assets staging directory. Exploitation requires crafted release metadata to be present when an operator runs a CLI dump, causing release content to be placed outside its intended dump location.
