CVE-2026-28658

Local privilege escalation via faulty FRP authorization

Published Sep 8, 2026 · Updated Sep 10, 2026

Local privilege escalation in Google Android 14 through 17 allows local users to bypass factory reset protection without interaction. The findMetaAuthUid method in AccountsDb.java makes an incorrect authorization decision because of an undisclosed logic error, enabling the FRP bypass. Exploitation requires local access but no additional execution privileges, and the resulting privilege increase is confined to the affected device.
