Local privilege escalation via missing NFC permission checks
Published Sep 8, 2026 · Updated Sep 10, 2026
Elevation of privilege in Android 15 and 16 allows local users to hijack silent NFC payment sessions without user interaction. Multiple functions in NfcService.java fail to perform required permission checks before enabling the silent payment-session hijack. A local application context is required; exploitation can take control of a payment session without additional execution privileges.
