CVE-2026-28527

Memory disclosure and crashes via unchecked AVRCP responses

Published Mar 30, 2026 · Updated Mar 30, 2026

Out-of-bounds reads in BTstack before 1.8.1 allow physically proximate attackers to disclose memory or crash affected devices. The AVRCP Controller GET_PLAYER_APPLICATION_SETTING_ATTRIBUTE_TEXT and GET_PLAYER_APPLICATION_SETTING_VALUE_TEXT handlers parse attacker-controlled VENDOR_DEPENDENT response fields beyond the received packet boundary. Exploitation requires a paired Bluetooth Classic connection and the vulnerable AVRCP Controller code path; no integrity impact is reported.
