CVE-2026-28505Public exploitNetwork attack vector

Admin-gated RCE via nested lambda sandbox bypass

Published Mar 30, 2026 · Updated Mar 30, 2026

Code injection in Tautulli before 2.17.0 allows remote authenticated users to execute operating-system commands through notification templates. The str_eval() sandbox checks only the outer compiled object's co_names, so a lambda hides attribute accesses in an uninspected nested code object and reaches a permitted Python function's globals. Exploitation requires an administrator to enable the default-off notification text evaluation feature, save a malicious template, and trigger a notification; commands run with the Tautulli process privileges.
