Service interruption via unbounded archive extraction
Published Mar 5, 2026 · Updated Mar 5, 2026
Resource exhaustion in OpenClaw before 2026.2.14 allows local users to interrupt service through a high-expansion ZIP or TAR archive. The extractArchive function in src/infra/archive.ts processed entries without count or byte budgets, allowing compressed input to exhaust CPU, memory, or disk. A user must start an install or update flow using the crafted archive; resource exhaustion then degrades the service or makes the system unavailable.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
