Teleprompter takeover via unauthenticated WebSocket commands
Published Mar 2, 2026 · Updated Mar 2, 2026
Origin validation error in Textream before 1.5.1 allows remote attackers to control live teleprompter sessions through a malicious website. DirectorServer.startWSListener creates a loopback WebSocket listener without origin validation, while handleIncomingMessage decodes and executes every DirectorCommand without authentication. Director Mode must be active and a user must visit attacker-controlled web content; the attacker can read or replace the script and stop the session.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
