Contributor-level stored XSS via unescaped shortcode attributes
Published Apr 16, 2026 · Updated Apr 16, 2026
Stored XSS in Email Encoder 2.4.4 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to inject scripts through the eeb_mailto shortcode. MailtoShortcode processes user-controlled shortcode attributes and places them into generated link markup without sufficient input sanitization or context-appropriate output escaping. Contributor-level access is sufficient; the stored payload executes in a visitor's browser when the affected page is viewed, enabling actions available to that browser session.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
