CVE-2026-28386Network attack vector

Application crash via unmasked partial-block loads

Published Apr 7, 2026 · Updated Apr 7, 2026

Out-of-bounds read in OpenSSL 3.6.0 through 3.6.1 allows attackers to crash applications via partial AES-CFB128 processing. The ossl_aes_cfb128_vaes_enc and ossl_aes_cfb128_vaes_dec routines load 16 input bytes without masking when fewer bytes are valid. Reachability requires x86-64 with AVX-512 and VAES, an incomplete prior block, a short current input, and an unmapped page after the buffer.
