Embedded malicious code in Aqua Security Trivy VS Code Extension 1.8.12 allows attackers to exfiltrate sensitive local information. The compromised OpenVSX package invokes a local AI coding agent to collect and transmit sensitive information, but the maintainer has not disclosed the injected files, functions, or destination. Exposure requires installation of the affected OpenVSX artifact; the maintainer identified no other affected artifacts.
