CVE-2026-28292Public exploitNetwork attack vector

Remote code execution via case-sensitive protocol filter

Published Mar 10, 2026 · Updated Mar 10, 2026

Command injection in simple-git 3.15.0 through 3.32.2 allows remote attackers to execute OS commands through user-controlled Git arguments. The preventProtocolOverride function applies a case-sensitive regular expression to protocol.allow, while Git normalizes mixed-case configuration keys and accepts the rejected override. Reachability requires a consuming application to pass attacker-controlled arguments and an ext:: source to a Git operation, granting command execution with the application's process privileges.
