Authenticated shell command execution via crafted filenames
Published Mar 5, 2026 · Updated Mar 5, 2026
Command injection in the FreePBX recordings module allows remote authenticated users to execute shell commands through crafted filenames. Authenticated AJAX endpoints pass insufficiently sanitized file and filenames[] POST values into shell-executed Media subsystem operations. Access to the Administration panel with a known username is required in versions 16.0.17.2 to before 16.0.20 and 17.0.2.4 to before 17.0.5; injected commands run as asterisk.
