Authenticated restricted-path writes via file API
Published Mar 2, 2026 · Updated Mar 2, 2026
Path validation failure in ZimaOS 1.5.2-beta3 allows remote authenticated users to create files in restricted system directories. The POST /v2_1/files/folder and /v2_1/files/file endpoints accept an attacker-controlled absolute path without enforcing an approved base directory. Low-privilege account access and network reachability are required; successful requests write attacker-chosen files or directories under paths such as /etc and /usr.
