Stored XSS via unescaped translation confirmation title
Published Mar 5, 2026 · Updated Mar 5, 2026
Stored XSS in affected Wagtail branches through 6.3.7, 7.0.5, 7.2.2, and 7.3 allows remote authenticated users to run JavaScript. The simple_translation Translate flow places an attacker-controlled page title into a django.contrib.messages confirmation, while base.html renders the message through the safe filter without HTML escaping. Wagtail admin access is required to store the title, and another admin user must invoke Translate; the script then acts with that user's credentials.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
