Arbitrary file write via unvalidated export path
Published Mar 11, 2026 · Updated Mar 11, 2026
Path traversal in Vociferous before 4.4.2 allows local users to write arbitrary files through its unauthenticated export API. The export_file route in src/api/system.py passes an unvalidated JSON filename containing traversal sequences into save-dialog filesystem handling. Exploitation requires a running victim instance and approval of the native Save dialog; resulting writes use the victim's filesystem permissions.
