EVSE process crash via freed session context
Published Mar 26, 2026 · Updated Mar 26, 2026
Use-after-free in EVerest Core before 2026.02.0 allows attackers with MQTT access to crash the EVSE process remotely. After ISO 15118 initialization fails, EvseV2G frees v2g_ctx but leaves MQTT command handlers active, so handle_session_setup dereferences the released context. The crash requires a failed ISO 15118 startup, such as a missing IPv6 link-local address, followed by a session_setup command from an MQTT-connected attacker.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
