Canonical URL spoofing via unvalidated forwarded-proto headers
Published Jul 3, 2026 · Updated Jul 3, 2026
Improper access control in Gitea before 1.25.5 allows remote attackers to spoof canonical URLs via crafted forwarded-proto headers. The public-URL detection path in modules/httplib/url.go accepts X-Forwarded-Proto and related values without restricting the scheme to one http or https token. An unauthenticated network request must reach forwarded-header processing, after which generated public URLs can carry an attacker-controlled scheme; no data access or code execution is reported.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
