Unauthenticated code execution via installer config injection
Published Apr 28, 2026 · Updated Apr 28, 2026
PHP code injection in OpenCATS 0.9.7.4 and earlier allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary code through the installer AJAX endpoint. CATSUtility::changeConfigSetting writes unescaped databaseConnectivity request values into config.php define statements, allowing injected PHP to persist and execute on page loads. Exploitation requires an incomplete installation without the INSTALL_BLOCK file and grants the web-server process's access.
