Authenticated code execution via unrestricted configuration-file upload
Published Feb 25, 2026 · Updated Feb 25, 2026
Unrestricted file upload in FreeScout before 1.8.206 allows remote authenticated users to execute code on Apache servers. The restricted_extensions list in app/Misc/Helper.php accepts .htaccess and .user.ini attachments, allowing Apache or PHP to treat uploaded files as configuration. Any authenticated role with attachment access can reach the flaw when Apache AllowOverride All is enabled, resulting in arbitrary command execution and file access as the web-service account.
