Process crash via preview-length integer underflow
Published Mar 2, 2026 · Updated Mar 2, 2026
Out-of-bounds read in Exiv2 before 0.28.8 allows attackers to crash the utility by processing a crafted EPS preview. LoaderNative::getData subtracts 28 from untrusted sizeData without first ensuring that the value is at least 28, wrapping the buffer length and reading about 4 GB out of bounds. The flaw is reached only when Exiv2 processes previews with an option such as -pp; the reported consequence is process termination, not code execution.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
